Dr V Sivadasan M.P

In his childhood days, Dr.V. Sivadasan has joined Balasangham, an organization that works among children in Kerala. He was very active in the organization and rose to its leadership. He had actively took part in student politics and joined the Students' Federation of India at a very young age. He was enrolled as a member of SFI while studying at Pala government school, Kannur and went on to become the secretary of the school Unit of SFI.

At a time, when the progressive student movement of the State was facing brutal attacks, Dr.V Sivadasan had found himself at the receiving end state repression in his school days itself. In 1994 January, despite being a minor and student, he was arrested and taken into police custody, for defying the prohibitory orders around Koothuparambu to participate in the District conference of SFI.

Sivadasan has been the Secretary of the Peravoor Area committee of SFI, and he had held both the presidentship and secretaryship of the Kannur district committee of SFI. He became the University Union Chairman of Kannur University in 2006. In the same year, he was elected as the state vice president of SFI committee in Kerala. He later became the state joint secretary of the committee.

Being in the student movement, he went on to become the National Joint Secretray of SFI and later the National President of SFI. He has been the member of the director board of KSEB, the biggest PSU in Kerala. In 2021, he was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Kerala. He is a member of the State Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist).

Dr V Sivadasan is actively working with the agricultural workers’ movement of India and he is the National Joint Secretary of the All India Agricultural Workers’ Union.

He is the Chairman of the People’s Mission for Social Development of Kannur which is working for ensuring the right to Public Space for every citizen.
